What is VMware and what does it offer to Businesses?VMware is a virtualization and cloud computing software. When using Vmware server virtualization, a hypervisor is installed on the physical server to permit several virtual machines (VMs) to run on the same physical server. Every VM can run its own operating system (OS) and this means several Operating systems can run on one physical server. All of the VMS on the same physical server share resources such as networking and ram.
What more does VMWare offer?Vmware offers vSphere which is Vmware’s suite of virtualization products. vSphere, also known as Vmware Infrastructure prior to 2009, has ESXI, vCenter Server, vSphere Client, vMotion, and more. As of April 2017, the most recent version is vSphere 6.5 and is available in three editions: Standard, Enterprise, and Enterprise Plus.
Networking and SecurityAnother software VMWare provides is named NSX; this is a virtual networking and security software which was created when Vmware acquired Nicera in 2012.
NSXNSX grants an admin the ability to virtualize network components, allowing them to develop, deploy, and configure virtual networks as well as switches using the software instead of hardware. A software layer is on top of the hypervisor to grant an administrator the ability to divide a physical network into several virtual networks.
vRealizevRealize Network Insight is a management tool for network operations which can enable an admin to plan micro-segmentation and then check on the health of Vmware NSX. Vrealize Network Insight on the technology from Vmware’s acquisition of Arkin in 2016. Vrealize Network Insight retrieves information from the NSX Manager while presenting errors in its user interface which help to troubleshoot an NSX environment.
SDDC PlatformVmware vSan is a software-based storage feature which is built into the ESXi hypervisor and joined with vSphere; it merges disk space from several ESXi hosts and supplies it using smart policies like protection limits, thin provisioning, and erasure coding. Site Recovery Manager A software for managing and recovering after disasters, Vmware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) is a product which grants an administrator the ability to make recovery plans which are automatically performed in the situation of a failure. Site Recovery Manager allows admins to immediately manage the failover and failback of VMs. SRM also merges with NSX to preserve network and security policies on migrated VMS.

This software grants a user the ability to change to the Mac OS and share data between the operating systems without needing to reboot. VMware fusion can also provide a user access to Windows applications on the Mac toolbar using Unity mode. Fusion also allows an admin to run Linux as well as a couple of other operating systems on a Mac.
